A national conference "Metal Casting 2009", organized by the NTU - Machinebuilding took place on 11-th and 12-th June 2009 in Lovetch. Within the framework of the event companies were awarded with prizes "Casting of the Year 2008". Part of the main criteria were:
- Casting's importance in terms of exploiting characteristics;
- Innovativeness in terms of existing construction and material;
- Advantages gained by using the cast part in terms of previously used options and constructive decisions like:
- Reduced weight;
- Improved appearance;
- Additional functionality;
- Reduced costs;
- Improved exploiting reliability;
- Casting's characteristics:
- Dimensions, weight, alloy, geometry;
- Technology of the casting appliances and need of additional machining;
- Successfully resolved metallurgic and technological problems of the casting, resulting from the used alloy and construction;
- Innovative tools;
- Appliance - necessity and utility of the product in which the casting is built.
Alucom - Pleven, Ossam - Lovetch and Centromet - Vratsa - all members of Metal Technology Group won the following prizes:

Centromet was awarded The Special Prize for "Application of bi-metal centrifugial casting for Cylinder Liners for ship diesel engines" |

Ossam got The Special Prize for "The production of castings with thin walls using the method of late modification and the effect of achieving ferrous base by fast cooling" |
